  • SHGs are organized for developing inherent skills to grow to their full potential & make a socio-economic contribution to family and community.

 

NIRPHAD's Accomplishments

  • 65 SHGs in 46 villages was extended to 66 through 10 FNGOs. In 2010, the total number of SHGs is 140.
  • Established buffalo loans scheme with an average profit of Rs. 1000/month.
  • Self-reliance has increased in all the programs especially in the management of preschools and socio-economic programs supported by HCDI/KNH.
  • SHGs attempts to increase the number of Self help groups to 1000 in the next 10 years.
  • Increased skill sets by interventions through Home Science & simple messages with equal participation to decrease corruption in governance.
  • SHGs challenge gender inequality of which good examples are, Ganga (silk screen printing) & Rajkumari (stone carving) who have stormed the male bastion and vindicated the concept that women are equal to men in all aspects especially in managing economic programs.
  • Common platform available at village level (panchayat and VL Committees) to discuss social problems such as incest, rape, wife beating and abandonment.
  • Panchyats ecouraged to actively advocate ill effects by abusing of drug, tobacco and alcohol.
