•
To alleviate poverty and emancipate weaker sections, all activities
will be developed emphasizing liberation of weakest (emphasing the poor
status of women and children) by launching an information revolution.
• NIRPHAD adopted a holistic approach to all programs, in essence,
to identify and resolve unmet needs.
• The Hub-Spokes Model was adapted in collaboration with two virtual
universities- Pant Nagar Agriculture and Mathura Veterinary to establish
with the former lab-land schemes.
• Training is the forte of NIRPHAD with special syllabus and curriculum
content, which has 20% didactic and 80% practical training to farmers
and foundation seed was sold to them so that with assured irrigation
& use of vermi-compost and Narayan Datt Pandey (NADEP) fertilizer,
the crop output increased by 3 fold.
• Recently, the use of fungal extract developed by Pant Nagar
Agriculture University has maintained the nutrition level of the soil.
• Programs were strengthened with new priorities in socio-economic,
eye care and child development.
• Skill development was provided resulting in behavioral changes
(especially among women) and leadership roles emerged.
• Capacity building was of the highest importance focusing on
marginalized weaker sections by establishing cottage industries- cardboard
box and candle making, sewing, silk-screen printing, ‘pass on
the gift’ and leadership roles in managing preschools.
• Bank linkages for self help groups enabled women to access credit
& save funds by eschewing evil money lenders who usually charge
high compound interest, making it impossible for the debtor to repay
loans in his life time and thereby enslaving himand his family in a
life-time of bonded labour.
• Marginalized target groups were trained to participate in local
elections to build a just society. Three female pradhans are
role models. This approach needs to be tested by a feasibility study,
as the pradhans still consult their husbands on critical issues.
